Tess Meyer is an Australian screenwriter and creative development professional currently living in Los Angeles. She deals in big dreams and scary nightmares, specialising in animated family films & TV series as well as live action elevated genre and sci-fi thrillers.
In April 2019, Tess concluded six years at Australian animation power house, Flying Bark Productions. In that time she worked her way from Production Coordinator to Development Producer and Screenwriter. In her two years as a Development Producer across concept, story, and creative, she saw the green light of her first CGI Feature Film (Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb) and TV Series (100% Wolf), as well as several new projects hitting the market in 2019. Tess was active in encouraging boundary pushing ideas and exploring new opportunities for the company and it’s crew. She created the successful internal pitch program and elevated a diverse cast of new writers, directors, actors, artists and designers. Tess continues to collaborate with the Flying Bark team as a screenwriter and character voice actor on their upcoming projects.
Independently, she creates, writes, and develops with talented teams across platform and genre. Her multi award-winning feature-length project, Skinford, was released in 2017 on Blackpills in Europe, VICE in the US and SBS Viceland in Australia. Skinford: Chapter 2 enjoyed a limited 2018 released in Australian cinemas and is coming soon to Black Pills in Europe. Tess was selected from a national pool of talent for the prestigious 2017 Screen Producers Australia Ones To Watch Program which she took part in under the mentorship of acclaimed Kettering Incident showrunner Vicki Madden. Her projects are for escapist audiences who live for high concept narratives set in worlds where they know anything can and will happen, and demand to be surprised when it does!
Tess is currently writing her first animated feature film for an international brand, as well as creating a slate of original feature films and TV series from her new home in California.
